Spring Will Come
I wanted to capture the foggy mornings common to central Texas during the wintertime.
At first an exercise of observation, Spring Will Come became an artistic expression of faith.
Wet southern winds from the Gulf of Mexico travel north where they combine with the cool and calm air of south and central Texas. The result is a lazy fog that remains until around midday. As the sun rises, the haze goes away. The majority of the paintings were initially painted en plein air in Elgin, Texas, a small town east of Austin. After initial observation and painting, I continued the work in the studio.
